A man escaped police custody after a traffic stop on Monday.
The stop happened around 12:30 p.m. near U.S. 95 and Vegas Drive. Police say the driver fled on foot but was apprehended and taken into custody.
The suspect was put in handcuffs and placed in the back of a police car.
During transport to the Clark County Detention Center, the suspect was able to get out of the handcuffs and escape custody.
Police set a perimeter in downtown Las Vegas in an attempt to locate the suspect. The scene was cleared.
The suspect remains at large.
