UPDATE FEB. 9: 21-year-old Christian Rene Rosales has been identified as the man who died after his car was driven into a lake in the Desert Shores neighborhood.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE: Around 12:53 a.m. Thursday, a car had to be pulled from a lake on Soaring Gulls Drive at Coral Shores drive, in the northwest neighborhood of Desert Shores.

Evidence at the scene and witness statements say a 2000 Ford Mustang was traveling south on Soaring Gulls Drive when it crossed the intersection of Coral Shores and drove into the lake. The Mustang was submerged completely.

Las Vegas Fire & Rescue were able to remove the driver of the Mustang from the vehicle and attempted to render aid as they transported him to Mountain View Hospital.

Despite the medical assistance, the driver of the Mustang was pronounced dead while at Mountain View Hospital.

Impairment is believed to be a factor in the crash and further investigation is being conducted.

Rescue crews also searched the lake after reports of a woman screaming from the scene but found no sign that anyone else was in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The Clark County coroner will release the name of the deceased.

13 Action News spoke with people who live near the lake.  They say the road and the lake are only separated by a small sidewalk, and that's caused some issues.

"Too many ducks, too many accidents, too many speeders.  It's an issue," says one resident, Tom Inky.  "I think they should act sooner than later before these tragedies happen again."
