A man died after crashing his vehicle into an excavator early Wednesday morning.

Around 12:43 a.m., the crash occurred at 917 E. Horizon Ridge Parkway, the location of the Southwest Gas pressure limiting station in Henderson. Police said a Nissan Versa drove south on Horizon Ridge, near Kinda Avenue, before leaving the roadway onto a dirt path.

The driver made a steering correction before driving into the rear of a 2010 Caterpillar 330D excavator. The Nissan caught fire as a result of the crash with the driver still in his seat.

Henderson Fire responded to the scene to put out the fire and discovered the man's burned body in the vehicle. He was not able to be identified at the scene of the crash.

The Clark County coroner will determine his identity.
