UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 65-year-old Keith Lennon of Las Vegas.
ORIGINAL STORY:
A 65-year-old man died Monday evening after he was struck by a car while crossing the street in a wheelchair. He was not in a crosswalk at the time.
Police say it happened around 9 p.m. The man was crossing Desert Inn Road west of Maryland Parkway when he was hit by a Dodge Ram. The man fell out of the wheelchair and onto the road.
The victim was taken to Sunrise Hospital where he later died.
The driver of the Dodge Ram, 23-year-old Julio Chavez, brought the truck to a stop and waited for police.
This was the 82nd traffic-related death in Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction in 2015.
