Man found dead in car identified

UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 23-year-old Christopher Downie. He died from multiple gunshot wounds.

ORIGINAL STORY:

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one person dead.

It happened on Tuesday around 3:30 p.m. near Desert Inn Road and Polaris Avenue. Arriving officers found an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Police say that when they arrived on scene they found the victim on the passenger side of a car with multiple gunshot wounds.

First responders tried to resuscitate him, but he was pronounced dead on scene.

Police say there was another man in the car who they are interviewing to get answers as to what exactly happened.  He didn't sustain any injuries. 

Employees at nearby businesses told authorities they saw two individuals running from the car after hearing gunshots.

There are no suspects in custody at this time.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Clark County coroner.

This is the 25th homicide investigated by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in 2016.
