LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — There was a very special reunion at Guy Elementary School this morning.
It started as a regular school day for Lily Jacob. First, there was a quick cheer practice and then, Spirit Day kicked off.
But there was a special visitor this time.
After being stationed for 9 months in South Korea, Sgt. Nicholas Kardeke returned home, ready to hug his mom, wife and three children again.
Sgt. Kardeke says his heart was going a mile a minute before the big surprise. Once he saw the kids, it was easy.
It was a difficult 9 months for the Kardeke family, spending that many months apart.
The family plans to soak up all the quality time they can with dad.
First, they are headed to Disneyland. After that, they will be gong to Germany for 3 to 6 years.
The whole school was present during the special welcome home.
