LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — As we inch closer and closer to Christmas, local shopping malls and police want to make sure everyone is getting their gifts safely.

Halee Mason, marketing director at Downtown Summerlin, says Las Vegas police frequent the area to make sure shoppers and employees are okay.

“They talk to all of our tenants about things to look out for and ways to stay safe in their stores, shoplifting, things like that,” Mason said.

She also said her most significant piece of advice is no matter where you shop to not leave any bags out in plain sight.

Las Vegas police also said shoppers said remain observant during the holiday season.

“If you’re in a shopping complex and you see something that just doesn’t look right, and you see a police officer out there, please flag them down,” said Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Williams Mastro.
