LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The announcement by President Trump that the government shutdown would end after 35 days was welcome news here in the valley.

But while many are breathing a sigh of relief, they're not out of the woods just yet.

The government is only guaranteed to stay open until mid-February before we could be facing a crisis again, and government workers will still have to wait a little longer for their back paychecks to go through.

So in the meantime, several local businesses are still moving forward with planned events that were announced during the shutdown.

Port of Subs will be offering free sandwiches to federal workers on Wednesday, Jan. 30 at any location around the valley.

"One paycheck, that's hard enough, but two, I can't imagine," said Michael Adams with Port of Subs.

Also helping out is the Paul Padda Law Firm.
