Nevada lawmakers are kicking off a special session in Carson City to consider incentives for electric carmaker Faraday Future.

Gov. Brian Sandoval called for the session, which started with formalities on Wednesday evening and is expected to wrap up on Thursday or Friday. Bills to allow tax breaks and infrastructure investments are the only agenda topic.

Lawmakers will consider creating a new category of tax abatements that would authorize $215 million in incentives for the Chinese-backed automaker, which announced last week that it wants to bring a $1 billion plant and 4,500 jobs to North Las Vegas.

Sandoval's also asking legislators to tweak laws that allow financing for infrastructure projects. Nevada officials want to publicly finance $120 million in water, rail and road improvements at the Apex Industrial Park.
