HENDERSON (KTNV) — Legacy Traditional School – Cadence will be offering a new elective course for its Henderson junior high students who are interested in STEM-focused classes.

Beginning January 2019, Legacy schools in Henderson, Avondale, Laveen, Surprise and Glendale will offer Coding 101 – a computer-programming course for students in grades 7 and 8.

Students enrolled in the class will develop the knowledge and coding skills necessary to construct computer programs in one or more languages, according to the school.

“In today’s technology-driven world, it is more important than ever that we prepare students with coding and computer programming skills like those offered in this program,” said Candyce Farthing, superintendent of Legacy Traditional Schools in Nevada. “Over the last several years, coding and robotics have quickly become among the most in-demand skills across virtually every industry."
