The pregnant Lee's Liquor store manager on duty during a deadly robbery recently spoke with 13 Action News after having her baby.

Jamie Henderson credits the shooting victim, Matthew Christensen, with saving her and her unborn child's life.

Henderson named her baby boy Benson James-Matthew. The second middle name given to Benson is in honor of their hero, Matthew Christensen.

"That reason, primarily, is because I didn't want to forget, I don't ever want to forget who Matt was," said Henderson.

It's been almost four months since police say three men stormed into Lee's Discount Liquor Store, demanded money, and then shot and killed Christensen when he couldn't provide the combination to the safe.

"If Matt hadn't stepped up and did what he did that night, then there would have been two fewer people sitting in this chair today," she said.

Henderson says that's because she was the only one that night that knew the code. Christensen knew that, but didn't tell the bad guys.

"My gratitude will always go out to Matt for what he did because he made the ultimate sacrifice," said Henderson.

She was six months pregnant at the time of the shooting, and now, because of Christensen, she gets to play with her six-week-old baby.

"One day, he's going to know the story," she said.

Until then, she will continue to remember Matthew when she looks into her son's eyes.

"He was a really good friend, he was a really cool coworker, he was just an all around awesome person to know."

The three suspects are set to go to trial August 7, 2017. Prosecutors plan to seek the death penalty against two of those three men.
