A group of students from the Clark County School District had a chance on Tuesday to talk to the school board about school safety.

The students made suggestions that included installing of metal detectors at schools, mandated backpack searches and increasing mental health care for students.

The students also said that they do not agree with arming teachers.

The discussion was held as a result of the Parkland shooting in Florida and discovery of two guns at local high schools.

Superintendent Pat Skorkowsky is meeting with Gov. Brian Sandoval in the near future to discuss school safety.
