On 1 October, we saw the worst in humanity but we also saw the best.

One year later, many of you are wanting to do something in honor of the victims. So United Way is inviting thousands of Las Vegans to volunteer this Friday.

The 250 projects range from reading to kids to painting to helping veterans to beautifying the area next to Bracken STEAM Academy.

United Way hopes to have 2,000 Las Vegans working on projects Friday. And since you get to choose where you serve, Bracken STEAM Academy hopes you'll choose to help them. Because in addition to covering the fence line, they want to beautify a wall.

The Day of Caring happens every year. But this year -- 1 year after 1 October -- it takes on special significance.

"When I think about making Vegas stronger, I think Day of Caring is a perfect example of that," said Laurie Mann of United Way. "We're all building hope and healing. We can all come together to make a stronger, more united community."
