Las Vegas man dead, infant in critical condition after being shot Tuesday night

LATEST: Police released more information at a news conference Tuesday night.

According to homicide detectives, a man and a woman got into some sort of argument inside an apartment. The woman's brother was also in the room. Police say the brother retrieved a gun from a different apartment. Then the brother returned and allegedly fired one shot, striking the man and the infant.

The victim did not survive. The victim's child, a 3-week old, is in grave condition. 

Detectives are speaking with the mother and her brother, the suspected shooter.  Police say at this point the man is only a person of interest.

The investigation is ongoing. Details are preliminary. 

ORIGINAL:  A man is dead and a 3-week-old infant is in critical condition after being shot in the stomach near Tropicana Avenue and Pecos Road around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.  The infant was transported to Sunrise Hospital. Las Vegas police say the shooting took place at the 3100 block of Key Largo Drive. One person of interest has been detained.
