LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — There are several events planned today to remember the lives that were lost because of 9/11.

A special tolling of the bell ceremony took place at Fire Station No. 5 this morning. One of the first responders who was there on Sept. 11, 2001, sang the national anthem.

Watch a livestream of the ceremony below.

Retired New York firefighter Frank Pizarro says there wasn't a doubt in his mind about going into work that day to help.

He was nearby when the second tower fell and helped save many lives.

In the days that followed, he stayed on the scene and helped clean up the aftermath.

After living in New York City for 50 years, Pizarro calls Las Vegas home.

The fire station's ceremony began at 6:50 a.m.
