LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Tarkanian Basketball Academy was evacuated late Friday night after a fire broke out at the building while a game was in play.

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue units responded to the academy, located at 2730 South Rancho Drive, near the Palace Station hotel-casino, at about 9:30 p.m. with reports of a fire.

13 Action News crews saw about 100 people in the parking lot while firefighters battled the flames at the property.

Fire officials said the blaze started on the outside of the basketball academy in a storage room.

However, initial reports also didn’t show any injuries, according to Las Vegas Fire and Rescue, as everyone was ordered to evacuate the building.

This facility opened in 2003 and co-founded by the well-known Tarkanian family, with Jerry Tarkanian - legendary UNLV basketball coach who led the school to an NCAA championship in 1990.

Vegas fire crews said the inside of the building did not suffer any damage Friday night with the cause remaining under investigation.
