Las Vegas is bragging about where it gets its energy.

One hundred percent of the energy used by the city of Las Vegas is matched by renewable energy sources such as solar, geothermal, even wind energy. That's according to city and NV Energy officials. Some energy the city even makes for itself, like the solar panels seen outside city hall.

Mayor Carolyn Goodman made the announcement Monday.

They were able to finally reach this goal when the solar energy plant, Boulder Solar 1, officially went online last week.

"The city is a place-- all of Las Vegas-- where a lot of mays and this is going to happen and it doesn't, but here in Las Vegas we say something's going to happen, it's going to happen," said Goodman.

The city has been working with NV Energy on this for about a year.
