Las Vegas’ only PGA TOUR event, Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, invites the women of Las Vegas to ditch their heels and show off their favorite pair of flats during the tournament’s sixth annual Women’s Day Kick Off Your Heels Luncheon on Tuesday, Nov. 1.

Hosted by Mercedes Martinez of KMXB-FM, 94.1’s Mercedes in the Morning, the annual luncheon will welcome Rose McKinney-James, managing principal of Energy Works Consulting and McKinney-James & Associates, as the keynote speaker. McKinney-James is a seasoned small business leader and independent corporate director with a long history in public service, non-profit volunteerism and private sector corporate social responsibility. While campaigning to become Lieutenant Governor of Nevada in 1998, she became the first African-American to win a Nevada statewide primary election. McKinney-James is currently working to advance clean energy policy and increase participation by women in the clean energy sector.

During the event, guests will enjoy pristine views of TPC Summerlin from The Hill –the tournament’s luxurious 10,000 square-foot entertainment pavilion overlooking the 16th, 17th and 18th holes– and have the opportunity to bid on silent auction items with proceeds directly benefitting the patients of Shriners Hospitals. Attendees will also indulge in a delectable meal prepared by Andiron Steak & Sea.

Sponsors supporting this year’s luncheon include Andiron Steak & Sea, Desert Radiologists, Dillard’s and Downtown Summerlin.

Tables for the Kick Off Your Heels Luncheon are available for purchase by contacting Corinne Spitzer at cspitzer@shrinershospitalsopen.com. Early reservations are encouraged as space is limited.
