Teen, dog die after hit by van crossing street in North Las Vegas

NORTH LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A teen and a dog are dead after police say they were hit by a van while crossing the street on Thursday night in North Las Vegas.

The teen was transported to the UMC Trauma in critical condition immediately following the crash around 5 p.m. near Martin Luther King Boulevard and Helen Avenue. Police said Friday morning that he died from his injuries.

The coroner's office will release his identity, age and cause of death.

Investigators believe they were jaywalking outside of a crosswalk.

Police say the driver of the van remained on the scene.
