Inmate captured after walking away from Pioche

UPDATE: The Nevada Department of Corrections said inmate Sony Perez was captured by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department Jan. 8, a week after he walked away from the Pioche Conservation Camp.

ORIGINAL STORY

A 34-year-old inmate walked away from the Pioche Conservation Camp Friday evening.

The Nevada Department of Corrections reported that around 5 p.m., Sony Perez was discovered missing from the Pioche Conservation Camp. Perez is a Hispanic male, 5 feet 11 inches tall weighing approximately 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing all blue issued clothing.  

Perez came from Clark County on Oct. 21, 2014 and is serving 24 to 60 months for grand larceny of a motor vehicle.

Officers from Nevada Department of Corrections and Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office are currently searching for the inmate.  He was last believed to be heading south on U.S. 93.

This was the second inmate from the Pioche Conservation Camp to go missing within the last month.
