Inmate Jeffery Hosmer was found unconscious in his cell at Northern Nevada Correctional Center on November 5.
Hosmer's cellmate was not in the cell at the time. Responding staff began life-saving measures but were unsuccessful. Hosmer was pronounced dead at approximately 2:03 p.m.
The 46-year-old was committed from Clark County on December 12, 2011, and was serving a sentence of 13-32 and a half years for possession of a controlled substance, possession of stolen property, and for being a habitual criminal.
As of this writing, the Nevada Department of Corrections believes this may be suicide. An autopsy will be scheduled in the future to determine the cause of death.
