The IHeartRadio Music Festival kicks off Friday night and continues through Saturday.

While the evening portion of the show is at T-Mobile Arena, the daytime stage is at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds near Las Vegas Boulevard and Sahara Avenue. Previously, it had been held at the Las Vegas Village, the site of the Route 91 Harvest Festival.

How are organizers preparing for the first outdoor music festival on the Strip, nearly a year after the 1 October tragedy? The owner of the festival venues, MGM Resorts, says it is working closely with law enforcement.

MGM has additional security measures in place such as full metal detector screenings, restricted nearby rooftop access, fully staffed medical tent and a command center.
