The fight against the new solar metering rates continues.

Hundreds of people showed up for a rally on Friday morning at a Public Utilities Commission meeting.

The commissioners are expected to vote on whether customers who installed or applied for rooftop solar panels before last fall should be "grandfathered" and allowed to keep paying the old rates.

The new rates are meant to phase out a subsidy that traditional energy customers pay to support the much-smaller group of rooftop solar customers.

The meeting is expected to last all day.
