LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Honor Flight Southern Nevada is taking 29 local heroes for a two-day visit to the national war memorials.

Approximately 2 dozen WWII heroes and Korean War veterans are boarding a flight Friday morning and will return May 5.

The purpose of the free trip for the veterans is to honor them for their service to the United States. The veterans will be greeted by a large crowd of supporters upon return. Most veterans who have previously completed the flight agree this homecoming is far greater than the one they received upon returning from war.

Honor Flight Southern Nevada is the local caption of the national nonprofit organization Honor Flight Network.
