The Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen hosted a school safety event in Las Vegas Thursday.
She joined representatives from the Federal Commission on School Safety to highlight how physical security measures in schools have proven to be successful in keeping students safe.
Nielsen also met with school and police officials to discuss ways to improve school building safety.
