A glitch in barcodes is allowing Las Vegas Athletic Club members to avoid having to pay for parking at MGM properties.

Earlier this year, MGM made the decision to stop allowing Nevada residents to park for free with their licenses, a move which angered many locals.

It's why some were excited to find out that scanning their LVAC gym barcode worked on the parking machines, allowing people to go in and out.

Several people posted on Twitter letting people know about the glitch. 13 Action News tested it out at two properties -- MGM Grand and New York New York. It worked.

MGM says they were already aware of this and says it's a glitch. They say they don't currently have any deals with LVAC to allow their members to park for free.

"This issue was previously brought to our attention and we are investigating. MGM Resorts has no parking agreement with the Las Vegas Athletic Club. Any barcode anomalies will be quickly addressed."

Several LVAC members we talked to said in the meantime, they're excited to take advantage of the free parking.  "It's karma," one gym member told us.  He said it's unfair locals should have to pay to park on the Strip.
