LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say a 44-year-old man identified as the suspect in the New Year's Day shooting of his girlfriend in California has been arrested in downtown Las Vegas.

U.S. marshals say Shabaka Anderson was taken into custody by a regional fugitive task force on an attempted murder warrant issued in Lancaster, California.

He's accused of leaving the wounded woman at a hospital and fleeing before police arrived.

Anderson was being held on more than $1 million bond at the Clark County jail pending an extradition hearing Thursday and his expected transfer in custody to California.

Records do not show if he has a lawyer.
