Former Nevada Senator and Majority Leader Harry Reid is recovering from pancreatic cancer surgery.
The cancer was discovered several weeks ago. Reid had surgery on Monday morning at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore.

Sen. Chuck Schumer sent out this tweet shortly before noon on Monday.
Spoken to family and it seems @SenatorReid's operation went well. We are all praying for dear Harry’s speedy recovery.

Reid, who is 78 years old, served 30 years in the Senate before retiring because of an eye injury. He was succeeded by Democratic Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto.
