LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The Trump Administration has nominated a permanent candidate for United States Attorney, even as lawyers for the government argued in court that acting U.S. Attorney Sigal Chattah was properly doing the job.

Las Vegas attorney George Kelesis is the administration's choice for U.S. Attorney for Nevada.

He's a longtime Las Vegas lawyer who has served on the Taxation Commission.

Chattah has been serving since last year, even after a judge ruled she wasn't properly appointed.

Lawyers argued that case before the panel of judges of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco.

Judges didn't make an immediate ruling.

Spokespeople for both Nevada's U.S. senators say they would study Kelesis' record before deciding on how to vote.
