ORIGINAL STORY
Las Vegas police are investigating a fatal stabbing in the east part of town Friday morning.

A man was located in the road near Flamingo Road and Pinecrest Street, west of Sandhill Road, at about 6:45 a.m.

Authorities found the man's body with multiple stab wounds at that location. Police said the victim was a 40-year-old homeless man, through their preliminary investigation.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Homicide Lt. Ray Spencer said a man walking his dog discovered the body but officers did not have a suspect description during the early stages of the case.

"I worry you know?" said Raul Sanchez, a nearby resident. "I live in the area, and for me, I need to know what's happening. The area is safe, and it's been quiet."

Police had a portion of Pinecrest Street blocked for most of the day as they searched for evidence at the scene.

"We are looking at this point for any potential weapons that could have been involved, along with potential video from the area," Spencer said.

Authorities urged anyone with further information on this incident to contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555
