LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — For the first time since COVID-19 hit, fans will be allowed in the stands at an event in Las Vegas this weekend.

The Dodge NHRA Finals Presented by Penzoil will take place at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Friday through Sunday.

A few select fans and Clark County Commissioners got a preview of COVID-19 protocols earlier this week.

During that event, race fans were taken through a simulated check-in with electronic ticket scanning, temperature checks, and essentially a practice souvenir purchase before being shown to their seats.

Commissioner Marilyn Kirkpatrick worked closely with the Las Vegas Motor Speedway to make sure fans could attend this weekend.

Organizers say they will allow 10% capacity and enforce social distancing.

Tickets are sold out for the race weekend.
