On what would have been her 14th birthday Saturday, family and friends remembered Jade Morris with balloons.

They gathered at a park off Washington Avenue to remember Morris, who was killed in December 2012.

"I can't let anybody forget about Jade," said grandmother Brenda Morris Williams. "I'm making sure that they don't. So this has been an every year thing until closure."

Family friend Brenda Stokes Wilson had pleaded guilty in January to Morris' murder and kidnapping but is in the process of trying to withdraw her plea. She's due back in court on April 27.
