Early-morning fire at Las Vegas business causes est. $50K damages

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Las Vegas firefighters responded to an early morning fire at TORO Taxes office Tuesday.

Crews responded to several 9-1-1 calls about the fire on Maryland Parkway near St. Louis Avenue shortly after at 4:30 a.m.

When firefighters arrived on scene, heavy smoke was showing from the one-story, wood-frame building that was once a home, then converted into an office. Just after arriving on scene, flames were coming from the roof.

It took firefighters about 15 minutes to bring the fire under control, authorities say.

The fire caused extensive damage to the attic and roof area. Damage was estimated at $50,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Firefighters from Clark County Fire Department also assisted at the fire.
