UPDATE ON OCT. 27: Police say that the pedestrian who was killed was a 28-year-old female. The injured pedestrian has been identified as 30-year-old Christopher Barela.

Police also identified the driver as 45-year-old Andrea Corbani of Las Vegas.

The Clark County coroner will identify the deceased after relatives have been notified.

ORIGINAL STORY

One pedestrian is dead and another is injured after they were hit by a car on the sidewalk Wednesday night.

The crash occurred around 10:15 p.m. near Las Vegas and Charleston boulevards in downtown Las Vegas.

Police said the other pedestrian has a serious injury.

According to police, the driver left the scene and hit a pole a short distance away. The driver was then taken into custody and is suspected of driving under the influence.
