Two power poles fell to the ground, igniting a pickup truck Monday afternoon.

Around 3:50 p.m., a Clark County Fire Department engine responded to Decatur Boulevard and Reno Avenue for a report of an electrical problem. On arrival, crews found that two power poles had fallen on the north side of Reno Avenue. The lines were energized and ignited a pickup truck in the area.

Reno Avenue was closed from Decatur Boulevard to Cameron Street for hours. Electricity and traffic signals were also out in the area, including the intersection of Tropicana Avenue and Decatur.

Occupants in the businesses in the surrounding area were asked to shelter in place or stay within the building until it was safe to leave. NV Energy assisted Clark County fire with removing those occupants.

The cause of the downed power poles is unknown at this time.
