LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A panel discussion was held Thursday evening at The Mob Museum to help raise awareness about the prevalence of sex trafficking in Las Vegas.

“The Zen Speaker: Breaking the Silence” is a film that shares the story of a prominent businesswoman who survived being sex trafficked.

The documentary was shown during Thursday’s event with speakers from the film, Las Vegas police, and legal representatives also in attendance.

President and CEO of The Mob Museum Jonathan Ullman told 13 Action News that the community can help in preventing sex trafficking.

“When we talk about our community, We need to think about not simply the law enforcement perspective, we need to think about all the different ways to raise awareness and think about how to address these challenges,” Ullman said.

Since 2007, there have been more than 1,300 cases of human trafficking, according to the National Human Trafficking Hotline.
