UPDATE: Police release information about shooting in CVS parking lot

UPDATE APRIL 8: Las Vegas police have released more information about the shooting on April 6 in the parking lot of CVS near Spring Mountain Road and Jones Boulevard.

Police say that the female victim had come out of the store to retrieve some items from her vehicle when she was approached by a man with a gun who demanded personal property.

The victim punched the shooter in the face and he pushed her to the ground. He then took the woman's purse and tried to take her jewelry. The woman then got up from the ground and began to run away. As she was running away, the shooter fired a shot, striking the woman in the leg.

The shooter is described as a black male in his late 20s and about 5-feet 7-inches to 5-feet 8-inches tall. He had a goatee and wearing a light-colored polo shirt and dark-colored pants. He left the scene of the shooting in a white 4-door sedan, possibly a Hyundai.

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- An ordinary afternoon in a shopping center parking lot took a terrifying turn for one woman after a robber shot her outside a CVS.

The shooting happened around 3:45 p.m. at Spring Mountain and Jones.

One eyewitness told Action News that he heard some commotion, a woman screaming for help, and then one shot.

Patrick Cruz, a shopper said, “By the time we got here, Metro and EMS were here. We saw police rushing to one female who was sitting on the ground.”

The woman was shot in the leg and transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the suspect got away, but they are looking at surveillance video to track him down.
