The shooting happened on Sunday night at a home on Timber Willow Avenue near Sahara Avenue and Town Center Drive in west Las Vegas.

Police have previously said officers were responding to a 9-1-1 call about a domestic dispute when they discovered a man attacking a woman with a knife through a screen door.

During the update, police say 40-year-old Seth Holliday used 8 kitchen knives in an attack against his wife.

She is still in a local hospital and is said to be stable.

This was the 14th officer-involved shooting in the LVMPD's jurisdiction for 2020, and the 7th fatality. The officer involved was Sergeant Douglas King, 34-year-old, and has been with LVMPD since 2014.

King fired one round during the incident, killing Holliday.

The original 911 call came in from a psychiatrist who was Holliday's doctor. Holliday's wife also called 911 as she was being attacked.

Police say there was a juvenile in the home during the attack and shooting. The juvenile has been placed into custody of a family member.

The department is still investigating the incident and shooting.
