LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Las Vegas police make an arrest after a decomposing body was found earlier this year near Rancho High School.
On May 31, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department had received a report of a deceased person located in a dirt lot near the intersection of Searles Avenue and 23rd Street.
Arriving patrol officers located the body, but police say it was not immediately known whether the person was a victim of a crime.
The Clark County Coroner’s office performed an autopsy and determined the victim was indeed stabbed to death.
Through the course of the investigation, homicide detectives identified 49- year-old Mauricio Jesus Milla as the man in question, and he was taken into custody on Thursday.
Milla was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on one count of murder with a deadly weapon.
Detectives also say they believe there is video of the incident and are asking anyone with further details to contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
