REPORT: Woman smoked marijuana before crash that critically injured 4-year-old boy

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The arrest report and mug shot has been released for the 24-year-old woman accused of causing a crash on Dec. 26 that sent a 4-year-old boy to a hospital with critical injuries.

According to the report, Mariah Marie Manzi was driving a silver Mercedes-Benz SUV when she ran a red light collided with a black Toyota Corolla at the intersection of Flamingo and Pecos roads.

4-year-old Justin Lopez was in the left- rear passenger seat of the SUV. He was taken to UMC Trauma with critical injuries.

Manzi and the two occupants of the Toyota were also taken to the hospital with less serious injuries.

During an interview at the hospital, Manzi told police that she had smoked marijuana earlier in the day when the “sun was still up.” A police officer also observed that Manzi’s pupils were dilated and her tongue was green and white in color.

The officer determined that Manzi was under the influence and obtained a search warrant for the withdrawal of an evidentiary blood sample.

Manzi is facing charges of driving under the influence and failing to obey a traffic control device. She is being held in the Clark County Detention Center. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for 8 a.m. Jan. 14.
