UPDATE ON MARCH 15: Police have identified 21-year-old Arnold Morales as the second suspect in this incident. Morales had checked into Centennial Hills Hospital with a gunshot wound shortly after the crime occurred. He has been released and booked into Clark County Detention Center.

He's facing the following charges: attempted murder with use of a firearm, two counts of first-degree kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, robbery with a deadly weapon, burglary with a firearm, conspiracy to commit robbery, conspiracy to commit kidnapping and conspiracy to commit burglary.

This is the 31st homicide for Las Vegas so far this year.

UPDATE ON MARCH 14: Police say that dispatch received a call around 10:26 p.m. Monday from someone who said two males were in a backyard and were attempting to get into the house.

The intruders managed to tie up a man and a woman living in the home. Armed with handguns, they demanded money from the couple.

The restrained man was able to escape, retrieve a gun, and fire multiple rounds at the two suspects.

One of the intruders was killed by the gunfire. The other was shot in the bottom and took himself to a hospital. The woman was also shot but is expected to be okay. It is unclear if she was injured by the suspects or by the male resident.

The Clark County coroner will identify the deceased after relatives have been notified.

Las Vegas police are on the scene of a homicide near Cimarron and Elkhorn roads in Centennial Hills area.

It happened on Hesperides Avenue. There are no other details available at this time.
