Police: Man arrested near Arizona-Mexico border in connection to 2016 shooting in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Authorities say a man has been arrested near the Nogales, Arizona, and Mexico border by U.S. Customs and Border Protection in connection to a deadly shooting in Las Vegas in 2016.

27-year-old Victor Delgado is currently awaiting extradition, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

On October 13, 2016, shortly after 6 a.m., the department says officers responded to reports of a shooting at a business on East Lake Mead Boulevard between Hollywood Boulevard and Mt. Hood Street.

When they arrived they found a man lying in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say the man had been involved in a fight with two other men, which escalated into a physical altercation in the moments before the shooting.

RECENT CRIME-RELATED STORIES:

Two suspects fled the scene in a small silver car prior to officers’ arrival, police said at the time.

It was the 133rd homicide investigated by the LVMPD in 2016.
