LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A Las Vegas woman is in jail facing murder and child abuse charges almost a year after her child died at a valley hospital.
Police arrested Kristina Kerlus on July 26 in connection to the 2018 death of her infant son. She is being held on $100,000 bail.
According to her arrest report, Kerlus' son was rushed to the hospital after becoming unresponsive on Oct. 5, 2018.
He was diagnosed with a brain bleed at the hospital and stabilized. He was then was transferred to University Medical Center,, but his health declined.
Two days later he died.
The Clark County Coroner's Office said the child had blunt force head and neck trauma, brain hemorrhages, rib fractures and other injuries. The death was ruled a homicide.
Police say they believe Kerlus is responsible for the death.
She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in court on Sept. 16.
