Posted

A Mohave Valley man is dead after trying to flee from police.

The Mohave County Sheriff's Office says that around midnight on April 5, a separate law enforcement agency tried to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle with a male and a female inside. The officer conducting the stop recognized the male as 38-year-old Joshua Jenkins, who had active felony warrants out of the U.S. Marshall's Office.

The vehicle didn't stop and was later found abandoned near First Beach in California. Officers couldn't find either occupant of the vehicle.

On April 14, Joshua Jenkins was found dead in the Colorado River.

The Mohave County Medical Examiner ruled Jenkins' death as an accidental drowning. Detectives believe he jumped into the river to avoid being caught.
