LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A man and woman were arrested on the Las Vegas Strip on Saturday for running an illegal gambling operation.

Police say that 42-year-old Eric Rose was the dealer and 49-year-old Barbara Vandusen was acting as the shill and trying to entice a passerby to play a version of Three-card Monte on a sidewalk near Sands Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard.

Police officers moved in and detained the couple after observing them for several minutes. Rose insisted the entire thing was a misunderstanding and that he never engaged in illegal gambling because no one stopped and played.

Vandusen told police she was from out of state and didn’t understand why she was detained.

The pair was arrested for conspiracy to operate a gaming establishment, service, or system with a valid license.
