Arrest made in stabbing death at North Las Vegas house party

UPDATE FEB. 21: North Las Vegas have arrested 27-year-old Sergio Arevalo in connection to the homicide that occurred on Dec. 28.

Arevalo was booked on the charge of murder with a deadly weapon at the Las Vegas City Jail, according to NLV police.

ORIGINAL STORY
Police say a 21-year-old male was fatally stabbed outside of a home in the 3500 block of Stanley Avenue near Owens Avenue and Pecos Road.

The stabbing happened outside a house party. North Las Vegas police say they received a call shortly before midnight Dec. 28 about a stabbing in the 3500 block of Stanley Avenue.

When they arrived, they found the victim lying in the street. Medical personnel arrive and transported him to UMC Trauma where he died.

The preliminary investigation revealed he was inside the house before the stabbing. Witnesses say they heard a lot of yelling just before the stabbing. The motive for the crime is unclear at this time but it is not believed to have been a random act of violence. No arrests have been made at this time.

The Clark County coroner will release the man's name after relatives have been notified.
