LATEST: The man is in custody after the standoff situation on the roof.

Relatives tell 13 Action News this began as a domestic situation.  The man got into an argument with his girlfriend.  Loved ones say that's when things escalated.

"He needs help," said brother Jeff Knecht, "he just wants somebody to be there for him."

For hours, the man was on the roof of a valley family.

"I just didn't want him to come into my house," said the woman.

A 90-year-old woman was inside the home at the time.  She was not injured.

LVMPD is reporting a barricade situation at a residence located on the 1700 block of South Christy Lane, near East Charleston Boulevard and South Sloan Lane.
