LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A man is jailed for open murder after a fatal beating in downtown Las Vegas on Thursday night.
According to information from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, 52-year-old Paul Campillo was taken into custody amid the investigation. Police identified Campillo as the man suspected of fatally beating another man in the area of Main Street and Bridger Avenue.

The victim has not been publicly identified as of this report, but Lt. Monique Rodriguez described him as a man in his 60s.
During the initial investigation, Rodriguez also described both men as unhoused individuals.
Homicide detectives determined that Campillo "approached the victim in an alley and the two had a brief conversation," according to LVMPD. "The victim attempted to walk away when Campillo started to batter him."
Police said the suspect fled before officers arrived, but was later located and taken into custody.
