A Las Vegas man has been arrested after police connected him with a murder that happened 40 years ago.
Officers were able to use DNA evidence to find Leonard Nash.
Officers in Fontana, California, say when the victim, Michelle Jones, was found murdered in July of 1980, evidence was collected. But it wasn't processed because of a lack of technology.
This year, DNA was sent to a lab, but there were no positive matches.
Follow-up interviews with her family led officers to Nash.
In June, investigators found him in Las Vegas and collected his discarded DNA. It was a match.
Nash is now waiting to be extradited to California.
