LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Las Vegas police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide involving a married couple in their 50s.

According to authorities, a man who lives at a home on Cutty Way, near Rancho Drive and Gowan Road, heard "two loud bangs" sometime in the overnight hours between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

The man told police he checked the house and believed it was dogs that made the noise so he went back to sleep.

On Wednesday morning, police say, he checked on residents, a man and woman, both in their 50s, and found them dead in the master bedroom.

The coroner will release their identities at a later date.

Investigators believe it was a murder-suicide and said the couple had been fighting for a few days before the shooting occurred with the woman shooting the man before turning the gun on herself.

This is the second murder-suicide reported in the last five days. On Saturday, police responded to the scene of another, unrelated incident involving a mother and her son at Red Rock Canyon.
